What is Your Meditation Style? Yes, You Can Meditate!

How can I be more psychic?
Meditate.
How can I hear my angels and guides better?
Meditate.
How can do I know I’m making the right choice?
Meditate.
How can I heal my past and boost my self esteem?
Meditate.
How do I (fill in the blank)?
Meditate.

Throughout my experience as a teacher and healer, one of the answers to many of life’s questions and goals can be found in meditation. And invariably, one of the answers I receive back is that people don’t know how to, or can’t meditate.

Meditation is one of the major keys to probably everything we would like to create in out life. People want the quick, the easy. But meditation can be both of those things once you throw out the “shoulds” in your expectations of it and find out what works for you. I think a large part of the reason people don’t meditate is the misconception of what it is. Many people have the misconception that you must set aside long periods of time in order for it to be beneficial.

Many have visions of a person sitting in a sparse monk like room, in the lotus position with empty minds. For most of us in this modern world, this is a rarely attainable situation and certainly hard to incorporate into a daily regime. Effective meditation is, and will be different for each person.

It is has been said, “Prayer is talking to God, meditation is listening to God”, and I would agree with that. Keeping that in mind, whichever way creates a space within your day, within your being that allows you to achieve that state of focus, is meditation and is effective. Be it for 5 minutes or 60. Do what you can! If you can’t do it everyday, it’s okay.So many people feel guilt if they don’t mediate, the “all or nothing” approuch and create unrealistic expectations for it to be a part of their life.

Also remembering everyone is wired differently and so whatever works for you, is what works for you! Don’t compare yourself to others in regards to meditation. For example, some people need quiet to meditate; some people need the room to be dark. Others like the sun, others need music. What brings you to a higher space? To YOUR particular sacred place inside your head?

For example, it is easier for me to meditate with music, but when I first began meditating, I learned to do so with guided tapes. I began mediating in my late teens when I discovered Richard Sutphen’s tapes.

His guided journeys basically taught me, a beginner, how the process took place, how it felt. Richard (Dick) Sutphen is one of the pioneers of the New Age in my personal opinion. One of it’s movers and shakers and I am proud to have learned from him. I always tell my students and clients that his tapes were instrumental in starting me on the path I am walking today. Some people have trouble visualizing, others have trouble with the intruding thoughts. If your not visual, that is okay, allow a sense of what the guided journey is taking you, If your mind won’t stop thinking about the tasks and conversations that are in your day, hearing someone else’s voice in a guided meditation may help you. The voice inside your head that keeps thinking about the phone calls you need to make, etc, we all have it. Some of my students find it helpful if you acknowledge it, let it know you received the message and will remember it later, it can quiet it. Or keep a piece of paper nearby and write down the message the voice wants you to hear so you can go back to meditating.

Keep in mind that walking and other activities that are rhythmic and healthful can create a meditative place within you. Swimming, dancing, walking. I have had some of my best “listening to Spirit” meditative moments walking in nature. I live by a park with trails that allow me my strong connection to the Earth and Nature Kingdom to renew me in body, mind and spirit.

Yoga is also meditative for people. Part of it’s life changing effects for those who do it often is this meditative state it creates. So you see, it simply is a matter of finding what works for you. Throw away the false assumptions, comparisons and expectations. Don’t be hard on yourself, enjoy it.

The Beautiful Way

This morning I took my little angel dog, Alfie, with his Papillon angel ears and we went to a public protest meeting.

I’ve never been to one before, and confrontation is not in my nature.  However, this week I was guided to stand up and be counted.  I was meditating about what to do about the proposed mega warehouse/trailer park that will lay under concrete and devastate many square miles of outstanding natural beauty near our ancient Kentish village, and Archangel Jophiel came in with Archangel Michael to guide my thoughts.

I wanted to protest, but also to “walk my talk” as an angelic counselor.  How could I protest from a place of love, in place of anger or fear?  Archangel Jophiel guided me to beautify my thoughts.  Even though the proposed development is opposed by all three political parties in the area, the parish council, the town council, and, the county council, the government is allowing AXA to put their plans forward.  We are being bullied by financial power and corporate greed.

I was so conscious that I would be surrounded by harsh feelings at this protest.  People are angry that they are threatened in this way.  They are frightened by the loss of environment and their possible powerlessness to prevent it.  They are dismayed that their feelings seemingly count for so little.  I felt it was very important to attend and take a different energy with me, that is potentially far more powerful. The beauty of  Love.   Standing on the damp autumnal grass, seeing the vibrant colours in the crisp bright sunlight, amidst hundreds of people with placards chanting: NO, NO, NO, the energies of beauty and anger rose up side by side.

Following Jophiel’s counseling,  I felt the beauty of the earth beneath me, the power of Gaia, and held visions of the glory of the countryside beyond.   With Archangel Jophiel’s guidance in my heart, I called on the elemental kingdom, Mother Earth, and the archangels and ascended masters to be present.   I asked the power of their spirit to enter the room where the public inquiry was about to commence, trusting that beautiful eloquent words represent those so passionate about our world and its natural beauty.

I see Archangel Jophiel there with her glowing pink aura, following in the wake of Archangel Michael as he cuts away disguise and lays bare the truth.  Beautiful thought is a powerful way to protest that reaches the very core of the debate.  This is a greater power than any, and can only attract a just and beautiful outcome.  I thank Archangel Jophiel for her guidance and for showing me The Beautiful Way.

Heart Eyes

It is said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What does that mean exactly? I believe I touched upon the definition on a recent trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

I went to the DMV to renew my license. I pulled a ticket and it was number 76. They were calling number 24 at the time. Ugh! I sat down and began to wait for number 76 to be called. It was going to be a long wait. I forgot my book and I didn’t have my iPod to play Scrabble, I was on my own. Have you ever really paid attention to what goes on at the DMV? That day, I decided to see if there was any beauty to behold. So, I started to pay attention to what was going on around me looking with my heart, “heart eyes”.

As I looked around, the first person who caught my eye was a young man. He was sitting next to his mother. His toe was tapping, his hand was drumming nervously on his knee and she was reading the paper. After a few moments, she put down the paper, touched his hand, talked to him, he smiled and relaxed his body. Looking with “heart eyes”, I saw the beauty of a mother’s touch, calming a nervous son waiting to get his driver’s license, as well as witnessing a milestone in a both their lives.

I continued looking around and sitting diagonally from me was an elderly couple. He wore a hat and she wore a smile. I watched as they finished each other’s sentences and worked on a crossword puzzle. Their number was called and he put down the crossword puzzle, stood up, grabbed her hand and helped her up. He picked up her purse and they made there way to the counter. I watched him talk to the DMV clerk and the clerk actually smiled. He was still holding his wife’s purse as he took the eye test and gave it back to her so she could take out the check book and pay.

Looking with “heart eyes”, I saw the beauty of love, partnership and effortless communication. Before I knew it, number 76 was called. The time actually went by fast as I wasn’t focused on the numbers being called, my eyes were focused on the beauty that surrounded me as I waited for my turn. My visit to the DMV would have been very different if I had taken a book or had my iPod.

I would have missed out on all the beauty that surrounded me. Archangel Jophiel taught me that even at the DMV there is beauty. I left with an open heart, filled with gratitude for witnessing the beauty of the people waiting at the DMV for their number to be called.

Imagine what your world would look like if you saw it through “heart eyes”. Beauty can take many forms, and if you want to behold the world through the eyes of beauty, work with Archangel Jophiel.

Archangel Jophiel, The Angel With Cleaning Action

Archangel Jophiel is certainly not one of the most frequently talked about or written about angels. She is like the female version of “Mr. Clean”, the character in the old commercial about a liquid cleansing solution that has multipurpose cleaning action, safe on any surface that needs cleaning. This angel is even more powerful than Mr. Clean. She has no toxic effects and exudes a very vibrant, loving energy. Interestingly enough, her name means “Beauty of God.”

Have you ever been so wrapped up in either daily routines or work schedules that you don’t even feel like you can breathe? Pushing through routines or schedules, trying to meet deadlines, and just watching the clock tick the minutes away then wandering where your day has gone causes so much stress. It also leads to a very stale, stagnant energy that affects us on many levels. Trying to make room in the schedule for you, can be pretty overwhelming.

This is one area that Archangel Jophiel can assist you with, that is, finding the time in your schedule to do the things you like to do that resonates with your heart center. She will sweep away mundane little areas of your daily routines that no longer serve you or that are no longer necessary. This will create a sense of balance in your life, bringing in joy and relaxation.

The Beauty of God

When I tuned into my angels for guidance on this month’s message, Archangel Jophiel popped into my head. This is another Archangel I experience as having more female characteristics. The name Jophiel means “beauty of God” sometimes known as Iofiel and Zophiel. She’s been nicknamed “the Feng Shui Angel.” Being that she nudges us to get rid of clutter and beautify our environments, this flows naturally with Feng Shui which is the ancient art of encouraging and shielding negative energy in our homes and workplaces. In the practice of Feng Shui, the flow of energy around your house affects major aspects of your life.

Recently I began having the urge to clean out my basement and really get organized around the house. Some of my friends were also expressing the need to get rid of stuff, like donating clothes and household items to charity and just taking inventory of what they had. I believe this was Jophiel at work gently encouraging us to get rid of things we no longer need as we slowly get closer to beginning a fresh and brand new year.

We all know what it feels like to clean out a closet that’s basically been a place to throw things. As much as we might not enjoy cleaning our houses we really are beautifying our environments. Our homes are our sacred space. Doesn’t it feel good to release and clear!

The stones associated with Jophiel are pink tourmaline and ruby. Her aura color is deep dark pink, almost cranberry. She’s also known as “the Patron Saint of Artists.” Hmm …artists? You don’t say?! I write music and I am an artist. I like to think I know a little about decorating. I have to see beauty wherever I look in my home. My living room has a cranberry accent wall. The light went on when I first learned about Jophiel. She has been on my spiritual team and I didn’t even know it! I love the creativity she inspires in me by sending messages to keep my sacred space pleasing and inspiring. This creates an energetic vibration for me, which supports all the artistic projects I am involved in.

Jophiel’s specialties are negativity and chaos. Call on her to clear the clutter in your energy too. When you are feeling stressed, tense and overwhelmed reach out to her. A great technique she has guided me to practice is to take your right hand and circle it above your head. Set the intention to clear away any cluttered or frustrated energy there. I have found this to give me instant relief. I use this technique on my clients as well and they say it leaves them refreshed, clear and centered.

Winter can get pretty dreary, another reason why the timing of this message is so appropriate. Jophiel is the little voice that whispers “Open the front door. Let the sunshine in. Open the windows.” I work out often in my home, but she encourages us to walk outside in the fall and winter months if the sun is out and it’s not too cold.

If you are someone who feels impacted by the dreariness of winter’s depleted amounts of sunshine, call on Jophiel. It is my belief that it is not just the sunshine we are missing, but the fresh air too. We need to be outside in nature, the beauty of God. The energy of the trees, plants and colors stimulate us. The fresh air uplifts an d refreshes us.

The Celestial Series: Part Three

The celestial series continues with the next three intuitively chosen archangels. Simply their presence here will provide angelic healing on some level. Take a minute now to tune in.

Sit down in a comfortable place. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Set the intention to connect with each angel. You may feel guided to meditate on a few more breaths. Go ahead and relax. Thank God and your angels for taking care of you and your loved ones, and for always guiding you. When you are ready open your eyes softly.

Archangel Ariel is the angel of divine manifestation and abundance. The archangels are not female or male per se, but they have either male or female characteristics. Ariel means “lion of God.” The crystal associated with her is rose quartz, and her aura color is pale pink. I feel Ariel has female characteristics when I tune into her energy. She also oversees the small animals around ponds, lakes and streams. If you are an advocate for the environment, Ariel will help you stand up for your beliefs and make a difference on the planet.

She says, “Little things count too Dear One. Be courageous and call on me in your efforts to beautify your planet and keep it clean.”

Jeremiel is our next divine messenger. His aura color is a deep eggplant shade of purple. Jeremiel means “mercy of God.” He is the angel of inventory and life review. He helps newly departed souls through their life review as they cross over to the other side. Jeremiel supports us in taking regular life reviews while we are here as well. If you are doing any type of forgiveness work call on this angel. Part of Jeremiel ‘s message is that letting go is important for us. Release it now so you can leave it behind and not take it with you into the next life. He helps us get from…” if I let it go I am saying what happened is alright”, to… “I release this for me and no one else.” I can’t go back and I can’t change it. I love the saying, ”holding onto resentment, anger and unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” I have worked a lot with this archangel!

Archangel Michael is a huge and integral part of all my workshops. I tune in and ask what other angels need to be covered for every class. Are the students experienced healers and energy workers supplementing their work? Are they new to working with the angelic realm? Recently I had an awesome class of people who had done major amounts of forgiveness work, forging on the path to their spiritual destiny. When I tuned into this class intuitively, I got that Archangel Jeremiel would be working with this group so I was adding him to my class information. I had never worked with him before so I did not know too much about him but I was amazed that his energy and message of forgiveness, fit the class perfectly. I call that Divine order!

Our last Archangel is Zadkiel. His name means “righteousness of God.” His aura color is dark blue and he is known as the angel of benevolence, mercy, memory and compassion. Zadkiel is said to be the angel who stopped Adam from sacrificing his son. If you beat yourself up a lot, Zadkiel will help you to have more compassion and mercy for yourself. This is another being assisting us in forgiveness and mercy. Having compassion for yourself through painful experiences where you feel you have been let down or hurt, melts the resentment that can keep you trapped in a cycle of feeling victimized. There are six archangels left in the celestial series! Just thinking about one of these angelic beings will lighten your spirit and bring relief.

Archangel Raziel’s Magical Meditation

Archangel Raziel’s name means Secrets of God and when I work with him I am always given information about the universe or I am guided to connect with ways to find the information by going within. I always feel an expansion of energy both within and around me when I call on Archangel Raziel. I would like to share this meditation about using sacred geometry to call forth what you desire.

Archangel Raziel sends this meditation to help you to connect with that which you desire and to manifest it into form now releasing any fears, doubts or objections to receiving.

Close your eyes and take a deep calming breath, count to 5 and then release. Take another deep breath this time count to 8 as you breathe in and then count to 8 as you exhale. Take a third deep breath, count to 8 as you breathe in and then count to 8 as you exhale. As you release this final breath, focus on your heart and allow it to open feeling it expand with love. Now see this huge Archangel standing behind you this is Archangel Raziel and in his hands he holds a form called a murkaba (it is a form made up of multiple triangles and looks like a multi-pointed star). He lowers this form through your crown chakra. As the Murkaba descends it both surrounds and fills you. See yourself filled and engulfed in this form from above your head to below your feet. Once this form is in place see him holding a form called an Octahedron. He lowers this form through your crown chakra and as this form descends it fills you, remaining inside of you and inside of the Murkaba. You can feel it pulsing in your heart and it feels as though this form is helping you to release anything that is preventing you from receiving your desire. Sit in this energy for a few minutes just absorbing and releasing. Know that you are safe and Archangel Raziel is helping you.

When you are ready focus on something you desire to have in your life. See it, feel it, give it color, texture, emotion and believe that you have this in your life now. As you do this the Octahedron starts to rotate in all directions. Fill this form with light and your desire and as it rotates it sends out sparkles of light to fill the merkuba. See the lights expand, the Octahedron rotate and the lights go out to the Merkaba like fireworks. As the sparkles and lights reach the points on the Merkuba which fills and enfolds you those sparks move off and connect with the grids through the cosmos. Continue to focus o your desire as these forms connect you, your desire and the Cosmos. Sit in this brilliant light and high energy for a short time knowing that your wish has been granted and it is manifesting into your life now.

When you are ready see the Octahedron stop rotating as Archangel Raziel removes this from you and also removes the Merkuba. You continue to radiate light both from your heart and your entire being. Archangel Raziel enfolds you in his wings and blesses you telling you that you can call on him anytime you wish to receive, either esoteric information or your desires. As he releases you surrounding you in a rainbow colored shield, slowly bring your awareness back into the room and back into your body and when you are ready you may slowly open your eyes.
